THE 'good' rating from Ofsted shows the hard work of staff at a Radcliffe nursery says its manager.

Kids adVentures was rated 'good' in all areas for its 'friendly and relaxed' atmosphere and 'dedicated' staff

The nursery in Sandford Street was assessed in February and the report published this month shows the nursery has good management and well-qualified staff who help build children's self-esteem to support their futures.

The report says: "Staff are well qualified and experienced, know children well and enthusiastically engage in children's play.

"This helps to support children to 'have a go' and participate.

"Children confidently share their ideas. For example, they describe the colour of their hair and eyes as they draw their own self-portraits."

The nursery was also praised for its exercise regime with weekly stretch and grow activities and for efforts made to improve literacy, encouraging them to hold pencils correctly and write their own names.

Emma Humphries, nursery manager, joined Kids adVenture in Radcliffe in August. She said: "This 'good' rating means a great deal to the staff because of the care and effort we have put into providing great opportunities for the children each day.

"It's good to be recognised as 'good' and we're really proud of what what we have achieved over the last six months."

The inspector's report highlights two areas of improvement for the nursery, these are providing better feedback from the manager to the staff and using information from assessments to create more challenging next steps for children's learning.

Miss Humphries, said: "Working on these is at the forefront of my role at the moment. We have already put measures in place to narrow the gaps in learning and planning and individual training is going to take place for staff.

"With regards to the improvements we're confident over the next two months that will go from strength to strength."
