A CHIP pan burst into flames causing a fire at a Radcliffe takeaway.

Crews from Whitefield, Manchester Central and Bolton North were called to the Blue Chutney Indian Takeaway in Blackburn Street at around 5.30pm on May 23.

Residents reported hearing "lots of sirens" and others said they saw fire engines outside the commercial premises.

A staff member from a nearby business said: “As we were leaving there were three people outside, one with a fire extinguisher in his hand, and another one that phoned the fire brigade.

“We could see the fire inside as we looked through the window.”

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two powder fire extinguishers to tackle the blaze.

The emergency services received the call at 5.35pm and remained on the scene for around 45 minutes.
