DANCERS at a Radcliffe troupe have twirled their way to success and secured a place in the British finals of a competition.

A total of eight teams from Freak Dance showcased their best moves on stage at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury.

And much to the troupe's surprise, all eight teams qualified for the national Soar Dance Championships next year at the event on May 19-20.

Coach Jak Wren said: "We have just had an amazing weekend.

"The students have been working really hard so we decided to set ourselves a new challenge and enter the competition.

"All eight of our local Radcliffe teams qualified. They blew us out of the water.

"We never thought we would get through."

The event comprised team rounds as well as solo and duo dance-off, with participants aged as young as four, and others over 50.

Mr Wren said: "We have an adult team who dance purely for fun, made up of parents. It is really nice that the children can look up to them and see them doing really well.

"We are really pleased with the results."

The Soar Dance Championships will be held at Powerleague Trafford Soccerdome next March.
