A SEARCH was carried out in Bury after a Mercedes crashed into railings on the roadside and ended up down a culvert.
Police were searching for a woman who had been driving a silver Mercedes convertible when the incident occurred, but had then left the scene.
The car had veered off Woodhill Road at the junction with Hunstanton Drive, smashed through the railings and fallen into a culvert that was around six inches deep.
Bury watch manager Steve Urmston said: "We were called at 1.57am on Sunday.
"The female driver had managed to climb out and was not there when we arrived.
"The police were called and carried out a search.
"The car was left in situ due to its position."
