A PINK 'party bus' was hijacked by a group of yobs on their way to Parklife and driven into two pedestrians.

The group were reported to have climbed on top of the bus near Besses o' th' Barn Metrolink station on Sunday afternoon. One of the men then took the wheel and drove the bus off, leaving the driver behind.

The bus was allegedly seen being driven towards Heaton Park via Bury Old Road, later mounting the kerb and hitting two teenagers.

The bus eventually stopped and the driver and passenger fled. The teenagers were not seriously hurt but a police investigation has been launched.

A GMP spokesman said: “At around 1.45pm on Sunday, June 10, police were called to Bury New Road to reports that a pink ‘party bus’ had been commandeered by some of its passengers, and had collided with two teenage boys.

“Police attended, however the passengers had made off from the scene. Thankfully, the boys received minor injuries.

“The official driver of the bus, who was hired to drive the private hire vehicle, has given an account to police and is being treated as a victim in this incident.

“An investigation is now underway and police are appealing for witnesses.”
