COULD this be the biggest Rammy Rock yet?

Tottington dad Christopher Cadden certainly thinks so, making the claim that the boulder, which he designed with his daughter Emme, girlfriend Roxanne and her niece Ellie Tyson, is ‘the world’s biggest Rammy Rock’.

After identifying the rock on the Kirklees Trail, known locally as The Lines, Mr Cadden borrowed an industrial trolley to move it to his home in Rhine Close.

After cleaning it, the quartet then put their artistic skills to the test by designing one side each. And after returning it to where they found it, Mr Cadden says the rock’s new look has proved a hit with locals.

He said: “It has gone mental. Everyone on the lines and on the Rammy Rocks Facebook page loves it.

“A couple of weeks back me and my daughter were walking down The Lines trying to find Rammy Rocks. We spotted an absolutely huge rock, so we thought how amazing would it be if we could create the world’s biggest Rammy Rock.

“So that is what we did and it took us hours.”

The rocks craze was established last year when two Ramsbottom parents, Sigrid Van Den Brand and Helen Idle, wanted to introduce their children to a healthy new hobby.

The idea was to get children to paint and varnish stones then hide them for others to discover.

The pair created a Facebook page so they could share the activity with others and challenge them to find them. The activity encourages children to move away from their phone and tablet screen by doing craft and going outside.
