FAMILIES flocked to Radcliffe FC for an activity day that showcased the work of 12 youth groups.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Radcliffe, the town's first Showcase Activity Day placed 12 community groups in the limelight to raise their profiles.

The event on Sunday, July 15, was opened by Brenda Johnson, widow of the late Rotarian Thomas Johnson, who invited families to see what the groups had to offer.

Young people and their parents alike had a go at archery with Outwood Bound Youth Club, morris dancing with the Street Shakers, and broke into a sweat with Radcliffe's Elite Boxing Club.

St John’s Ambulance staff showed visitors how to resuscitate using chest compressions, while members of Liv's Trust, set up in memory of Manchester Arena attack victim Olivia Campbell-Hardy, kept adults entertained with their singing and dancing.

The Encore Choir also delivered a special performance in the social club.

The new Radcli?e Rotary President Mr Ken Kerr said: "I'm delighted the event went so well, especially with the World Cup final and Wimbledon ?nal taking place on the same day.

"This was the ?rst time we have organised such an event and although there are things we can change in the future, the whole experience was worthwhile and positive.

"I would like to thank all the organisations that took part and hope that the event lifts their pro?le in the community."
