A MAID of honour said she is 'overwhelmed' by the response she has received after she rapped her own version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at her best friend's wedding.

Tasmin Dawes, from Ainsworth, spent seven months creating the personal lyrics which tell the story of her friendship with Jade Donohue.

The inseparable pair, both 25, met at nursery, went to high school together and even went on to study the same uniformed services course at college.

Since the wedding at Christ Church Ainsworth on July 13, the video of the rap has been shared more than five million times.

Tasmin said: "The lyrics always came to me when I was lying in bed at night and I’d have to get up and write them down. I’d go to sleep singing the song.

"I’d just think of words that rhymed and filled in the gaps.

"I wasn’t even sure I was going to do the rap until the day. I thought this can either go really well or I’m going to look really silly.

"Jade thought I was going to sing a lovely song — I think she was shocked but it paid off anyway."

The well-rehearsed performance was given at the wedding reception venue, Dobbie’s Sports and Social Club in Radcliffe.

In the opening lines, Tasmin said: "So I’d like to take a minute while you’re sitting right there and tell you how I’m the maid of honour at the wedding of the year.

“In Ainsworth village born and raised, with Jadey is where I spent all of my days.”

The second half of the rap is dedicated to childhood sweethearts Jade and Ashton, and their two young children Declan, three, and Isabella, one.

In a line that left the crowds in stitches, Tasmin said: "The first kiss happened, it was so romantic, like Jack and Rose in the middle of the Atlantic.

“I’m totally lying have you seen these guys, it was outside the Rocket pub at half past five."

Jade and Ashton, aged 26, met at high school and have been together ever since.

The video as gone viral on social media, and been shared hundreds of thousands of times.

Tasmin said she was proud that Ainsworth was given a mention.

She said: "I wasn’t expecting anything close to this response. I’ve had more than five million views. It is unreal. I was thinking it would get about 1000 if my friends shared it but that’s about it.

"Everybody on the day was loving it, their cheers during the speech kept me going.

"Afterwards everybody was coming congratulating me telling me it was amazing and buying me drinks."

The lyrics of Tasmin's masterpiece are:

“Now this is a story all about how my best friend's sat over there right now so I’d like to take a minute while you’re sitting right there and tell you how I’m the maid of honour at the wedding of the year.

“In Ainsworth village born and raised, with Jadey is where I spent all of my days. She was always bossing us round, tryna act all cool, she’d ring a thousand times tryna get me to school.

“We’d get a day saver and get on any bus, drink blue WKDs and camp in a bush.

“Well that was us for the next 20 years, some ups and some downs, some laughs and some tears.

“When it comes to memories we’ve got some and more, it’s Tasmin and Jadey best friends to the core.

“But this is not about me, it’s Ashton and Jade and how we’re all sat here on their wedding day.

“So along comes this guy who Jade thought looked good, he started causing trouble with this sisterhood.

“I said if you think you’re taking her you better beware ‘cause listen up boy, we come as a pair.

“The first kiss happened, it was so romantic, like Jack and Rose in the middle of the Atlantic.

“I’m totally lying have you seen these guys, it was outside the Rocket pub at half past five.

“About five years later she was up the duff, she said Tasmin I’m scared I said well Jade it’s tough.

“Along came Declan he’s a cute little fella, then two years later out pops Isabella.

“Now their families all complete and they’re finally wed, let’s just remember when you get to that bed, no more babies guys you’re saving for a house, may the future be a bright one for you and your spouse.

“I’m gonna wrap this up ‘cause I need a drink now, let’s all go and celebrate them taking the vow.

“Let’s toast to their love as husband and wife, to Ashton and Jade for the rest of their life.”
