MANCHESTER magistrates have sentenced a woman to a conditional discharge for two years after she pleaded guilty to assaulting a man on July 1.

Nicola Wright, aged 34, of Rutland Drive, Bury, was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

nA MAN has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months after admitting shoplifting and causing damage.

Benjamin Hay, aged 26, of Beech Avenue, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to damaging a laptop and chair belonging to North Pennine Trust on June 1, and stealing a walking stick for a pharmacist on May 14.

He also admitted stealing an electric window cleaner and causing damage to the Clas Ohlson store in Manchester on June 23.

Hay was also ordered to participate in rehabilitation activities for 15 days and attend a thinking skills programme as well as paying a total of £468 in compensation, costs and charges.

nA CONDITIONAL discharge for 12 months has been handed to a man who admitted assaulting a woman on December 5.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Essan Zarif, aged 26, of Walmersley Road, Bury, was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

nA SHOPLIFTER who stole bottles of spirits, worth £47.50, from a supermarket has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Manchester magistrates.

Claire Rhodes, aged 39, of St Margaret’s Road, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at Morrisons in Whitefield on May 3.

She was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

nMAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 60 hours unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman and damaging a television on June 30.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Aaron Green, aged 26, of St Andrews Close, Ramsbottom was also ordered to pay £75 compensation plus £170 in costs and charges. A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Stonemere Drive, Radcliffe.

nA WOMAN has been fined £145 by Manchester magistrates after she was caught using a mobile phone while driving a Mercedes on Manchester Road, Bury, on October 24.

Leigh Davren, aged 31, of Hardys Close, Radcliffe, was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges and six penalty points were added to her driving licence.

nDAMAGING a car window has resulted in a man being sentenced to a conditional discharge for 18 months by Manchester magistrates.

Aaron Thornton, aged 31, of Chesham Crescent, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on June 10.

He was ordered to pay £100 in compensation plus £105 in costs and charges.

nA MAN has been fined £100 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on June 19.

Manchester magistrates ordered Stephen Flynn, aged 53, of Springside Road, Bury to also pay £100 in compensation plus £170 in costs and charges. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.
