A NIGHT of top flight wrestling action is coming to Prestwich.

Celebrating 14 years of Manchester's home grown professional wrestling company FutureShock, the Anniversary Show will take place at The Longfield Suite from 5pm on August 18.

Promising spectacular bouts, the family friendly show brings FutureShock's action packed, high flying action from some of the UK's biggest wrestling stars.

Chris Brooker, the owner of FutureShock said: "This a live action show that's better than anything you'll see at the cinema this summer.

"You'll laugh, you'll cheer, you'll boo, you'll find yourself on the edge of your seat and you'll find yourself wondering just how these real life superheroes and super-villains do the things they do.

"Best of all we're genuinely a show for everyone, for fans of all ages. We regularly see two, three and even four generations of fans losing their minds at ringside.

"With all due respect to the circus I truly believe that this is the greatest show on earth."

In the evening's main event FutureShock champion and Manchester lad Ashton Smith will defend his title against fellow Mancunian and wrestling colossus Cyanide.

Smith recently made stand-out performances at WWE's UK Championship Tournament at London's Albert Hall, and has faced his 30 stone opponent in several bruising contests before.

Considered by many to be a fusion of British wrestling legends Giant Haystacks and Kendo Nagasaki, Cyanide has said he is so confident of victory over Smith that he will remove his trademark mask if he does not become champion.

There will also be a feature bout starring longstanding pioneers of women's wrestling from FutureShock's Women's Championship.

Ten women will compete in an "Adrenaline Rush" elimination match including reigning champion Molly Spartan, backed by Jayla Dark and Kasey Owens.

The trio will face off against former champion Lana Austin, Shax, WWE NXT UK titan Toni Storm and others in an all out gang brawl.

Mr Brooker said: British wrestling is the best it's been in generations right now, genuinely the envy of the world and you'll see exactly why at FutureShock.

"We have an amazing wrestlers at FutureShock, some of whom folk will no doubt recognise from WWE's UK Championship Tournament or ITV's new series of World Of Sport Wrestling.

"You'll get to see them, as well as some of the best emerging talent in the North West, up close and personal.

"You won't just see and hear every slam, suplex and forearm, you'll feel it too."

The show is suitable for people of all ages and tickets start from £12 or £30 for a family of four.
