A BURY man is celebrating 55 years of working at the same car firm.

Steve Harvey, aged 70, has worked at Farnell Land Rover in Bury since leaving school in 1963, and has seen a variety of brand changes, refurbishments and owners since.

Over the last half a century, Steve has worked in several roles, including mechanic, workshop foreman and workshop controller. He now works as a sales progressor.

To mark his landmark achievement, Steve was presented with a commemorative plaque at a long-service celebration in Newcastle recently.

He said: “Things were very different when I first started my career but I have enjoyed every change that has come with the industry.

"I have worked with and met some fantastic people, including customers who have over time turned into friends, and I am glad to mark my 55th year with the Farnell Land Rover Bury team.”

James Boyd, head of business at Farnell Land Rover, in Bell Lane, added: “I have only worked with Steve since July 2017 but he has made a huge impact on my career in such a short space of time.

"He displays loyalty, passion and commitment and is a huge inspiration for both myself and the rest of the team. "The way Steve conducts himself within our business is extremely motivational and is a great example not only for the new starters in the business, but the existing team and Farnell division.

"Steve is so important to our business, he is a model colleague."
