A MAN has been ordered to do 90 hours of unpaid work after he was convicted of racially aggravated assault.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Damian Preston-Booth, aged 40, of Ulundi Street, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 9.

Magistrates also ordered him to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, pay £50 compensation and £170 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was also made banning him from entering Bury Job Centre Plus on Silver Street or contacting his victim.

nA TEENAGE boy from Whitefield has been referred to a youth offender panel for four months after he was caught riding a Honda scooter in Bury without a licence, insurance or helmet on June 18.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Manchester Youth Court and pleaded guilty to committing the

offences.

He also admitted having no MoT for the vehicle and was using it when it was in a dangerous condition.

nA MAN has been fined £300 after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on June 29.

At the time David Berry, aged 45, of Alma Street, Radcliffe, was already subject to a conditional discharge for assault.

He was ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.

nA DRIVER who gave false details to obtain motor insurance has been banned from the roads for six months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Dominic Mathieson, aged 20, of Rose Grove, Bury, pleaded guilty to using a BMW on Ainsworth Road, Bury, on January 29 and obtaining an insurance certificate by giving a false date of birth and failing to disclose motoring convictions.

He was fined £232 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

nMAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 150 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Adam Wells, aged 26, of Riverside Road, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence, possessing 31 category C images between June 2015 and June 2017. In addition to the unpaid work, he was ordered to participate in 40 days of rehabilitation activities and 29 sessions of the Horizons programme.

Wells was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years and must pay £170 in costs and charges.

nA MAN has been jailed for 16 weeks after he assaulted a woman, damaged a computer, handled a stolen Toyota Prius and drove it without a licence or insurance in Rawtenstall on April 24.

James Lamb, aged 24, of Peel Brow, Ramsbottom, denied handling the stolen car but was found guilty after a trial. He admitted the other offences.

In addition to the prison sentence, Lamb was ordered to pay £50 in compensation and banned from applying for a driving licence for 12 months.

nA TEENAGER has been sentenced to do 50 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to possessing a pair of scissors in public without good reason in Bury on June 8.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Simon Orru, aged 18, of Athlone Avenue, Bury, was also ordered to participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.
