A MAN who escaped from his hospital bed after police had arrested him has been captured.

Thomas Neate, aged 25, was arrested on Monday, July 23 on suspicion of assault but was taken to Fairfield General Hospital after complaining about a wrist injury.

He escaped at about 10.45am, while he was in custody.

Neate was last seen at 11.29am in the Rochdale Old Road area of Bury. Extensive efforts had been made by officers to find him.

Greater Manchester Police’s professional standard branch will be looking into the circumstances of his escape.

A spokesman said at the time: "Although Neate isn’t believed to be a threat to the general public, officers are asking people to call with information and not approach him."
