THE sun shone down as families flocked to Red Bank Playing Field in Radcliffe for a summer event.

More than 1,000 people attended Six Town Housing's summer roadshow when it arrived in the town.

It was the most popular of the housing provider's five borough-wide events, the last of which was held at Prestwich's Venwood Road Ball Park on Tuesday.

Children had their faces painted, enjoyed an afternoon on the bouncy castle, held real-life reptiles, played games and took part in competitions at the Radcliffe show.

Meanwhile, visiting adults had the opportunity to browse a range of information intended to help tenants and residents who are living in the homes and communities that arms length management organisation (ALMO) Six Town Housing manages on behalf of Bury Council.

Sharon McCambridge, chief executive of Six Town Housing, said: "The Roadshow proved to be a popular annual event for communities, with the recent event in Radcliffe having a particularly high attendance.

"It is fantastic to be able to speak to so many people about things that matter to them and we are able to inform them of a range of services available to them."

A total of 1,058 adults and children attended the free Radcliffe event on August 7, according to organisers.

Adults were able to report repairs, find out about employment support, access digital training, pick up energy saving tips, and participate in a workshop about damp and condensation.

Other stalls included first aid advice available from Purpose Training, a craft stall run by local group The Woodies and a painted rocks stall run by Corrie Gardeners.
