A door-to-door appeal has been launched in Bury to raise funds for humanitarian projects around the world.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has started its annual UK fundraising, appealing for the support of Bury residents.
Members of the Bury Seventh Day Adventist Church supported last year's appeal, along with donations from residents.
Last year's UK collection totalled at £505,490.
This was used to fund a soup kitchen in Armenia, secondary school buildings in South Sudan, and two refugee projects in Azerbaijan.
Funds also helped to paid for a Child Survival project in Carrefour, Haiti, where 80 per cent of the children were vaccinated against TB, polio and diptheria.
This year ADRA will fund many of its existing projects, along with eight new ones - the largest being a Mother-Child Health Centre in the Ivory Coast. Others include an Indian orphanage and a special needs camp in North Wales.
All ADRA UK collectors will wear a Home Office approved badge and carry a permit, which they will present on request. For further information: visit www.adra.org.uk
