COUNCILLOR Michelle Wiseman showed her support for Bury Samaritans by paying a visit to their office on Friday.

The Tory representative for Pilkington Park and prospective parliamentary candidate for Bury South met volunteers and asked about the charity's work.

She was particularly interested in projects aimed at supporting the elderly and working with children in schools.

Stan Edwards, director of Bury Samaritans, arranged the visit after meeting Coun Wiseman at a council event.

He said: "Coun Wiseman showed a great appreciation of the work we are doing at Bury Samaritans and a great understanding of the work and frustrations that go on behind the scenes to keep a charity afloat and in a position to help the people it is set up to serve."
