TALENTED pupils at Bury Grammar School for Girls had the right chemistry to win a prestigious competition.
A team of four girls from Year 8 travelled to Manchester University last month to take part in the Salters’ Festival of Chemistry.
They took part in two challenges, one set by the university and one by the Salters’ Institute, an organisation which promotes chemistry.
The youngsters saw off stiff competition from pupils across Greater Manchester to win the Salters’ challenge, taking £100 back to the Bridge Road school.
It is the second year in a row that a team from the school has won the challenge.
Dr Jackie Yates, head of chemistry, said: “I am delighted that the team won, and they all worked very hard. They had to show that they could work together as a team and do a very practical challenge.”
