Sports shop changes name

A LEADING fashion and sports retailer, which opened its first store in Bury 27 years ago, has changed its name.
Now, the John David Group plc, located at Hollins Brook Way in Pilsworth, will be known as JD Sports Fashion plc. The name change was given approval by shareholders at the recent annual general meeting of the company.
A JD spokesman said: “The change has been effected to better reflect the market position of the company as the UK’s leading retailer of sport and athletic-inspired fashion apparel and footwear.”
The business operates more than 400 sports and fashion stores nationwide.
