A GROUP of women have hit the bullseye after completing a gruelling weight loss project.

The Woolpack ladies’ darts team from Bury have finished an eight-week health programme to raise money for Derian House children’s hospice.

And as a reward, the girls were treated to a makeover on ITV’s This Morning programme with Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford and Lee Mead.

During the project, the group were part of another ITV show, The Feel Good Factor, which followed the efforts of TV stars and viewers trying to improve their fitness.

The Woolpack girls were challenged to complete a 5km run, which they trained for with the help of Emmerdale actors Tony Audenshaw and Matthew Wolfenden.

The challenge raised more than £1,500 for Derian House but team member Johanna McManus, of Wood Street, Bury, said the girls were not stopping there.

She said: “We are going to carry on raising money because we all have links to children and Angela, one of our other members, has a disabled daughter who uses the hospice for respite.”

Johanna completed the challenge in 25 minutes, Suzanne Bennett in 31 minutes, Angela Constantine in 35 minutes, Allyson Shaw in 37 minutes and Allyson’s niece, Sarah Shaw, in 39 minutes.

All five girls were thrilled when they received a makeover on the show. Speaking about the TV appearance, Johanna said: “We were all crying because we were so happy.” She is now preparing for a Manchester run next month.
