Dog walk boost for Joe memorial trust

MAN’S best friend has helped boost a charity trust founded in memory of Bury schoolboy Joe Geeling.

The sponsors of an annual Joe Geeling Charity Dog Walk, held in October, have presented £500 to the Joe Geeling Trust.

Organisers hope proceeds from the fourth annual walk will raise £1,700.

Bury-based Vets4Pets, based in Manchester Road, sponsored the walk and presented a £500 cheque to Joe’s father, Tom Geeling.

Seventy people and 46 dogs took part in the fundraising event which was organised by dog trainer Gordon Salmon.

Previous walks have raised more than £8,000 for the trust.

It was set up following the murder of 11-year-old Joe in 2006, and raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the New Children’s Hospital Appeal.
