Top St John award for teenager Emma

A TEENAGER has proven her first aid skills to achieve the highest honour available to St John Ambulance cadets.

Emma Bailey, of Seddons Avenue, Bury, has been working towards the Grand Prior Award since she joined the organisation’s Radcliffe division eight years ago. The 18-year-old had to cover 26 subjects, including first aid, sport and camping, to complete the course.

Eileen Wilkinson, county president for St John, handed the award to Emma during a presentation at the divisional headquarters in Sion Street.

Emma, who is studying a sports development degree at Bolton University, said she had enjoyed all the work put in to gain her award.

She said: “I am really happy to get the award. It has been hard work, but I really enjoyed all the different parts of it.”
