Poppy appeal

Mum to fight for English Democrats

ENGLISH Democrats are to field a candidate in Bury South to fight the General Election.

Mother-of-three Mrs Valerie Morris has been selected by the party as their prospective Parliamentary candidate for the constituency.

The 43-year-old, of Swinton Crescent, Unsworth, has lived in the area all her life and was educated at Ribble Drive Primary and Unsworth Comprehensive High schools.

Later, she worked as a departmental manageress for various supermarkets in the Bury area, then Mrs Morris moved into the computer industry. She works for the NHS and is responsible for the smooth running of the clinical audit department at a local children’s hospital. A former parent governor of a local school, she was also an active campaigner with the Manchester against Road Tolls group. The organisation successfully opposed the congestion charge from being introduced in Greater Manchester. She says she joined the English Democrats because she believes the main political parties are not listening to local people and are not allowing the people of England to have a say on the decisions being made in their name.

Mrs Morris added: “The English Democrats are the only party who will address the mass discrimination that is happening against the people of England. Why should we stay silent when this Government take billions of pounds from English tax payers and give it to other countries?

Hospitals, care for the elderly, education and transport systems suffer when English taxes should be used to benefit our communities, our Hospitals, our elderly care, our education and our transport systems in our communities.”

Her husband, Stephen, is the party’s North West chairman.
