Warning over rise in tuberculosis

PEOPLE in Radcliffe are being urged to be aware of the symptoms of tuberculosis, as figures show cases in the North West have increased by 11 per cent since 2005.

The Health Protection Agency North West and NHS North West have revealed the region had 841 patients in 2009, compared to 749 four years before.

The symptoms include a fever and night sweats, persistent cough, weight loss and blood in phlegm.

Anyone experiencing two or three of these signs for more than three weeks should go to their GP.
