POLICE are launching a youth club for eight to 14-year-olds in Moorside.

Young people are invited to the club, which will run every Friday from 5pm to 6.30pm. It will include video games, pool and art and crafts activities.

The club has been partly funded by Six Town Housing and Seedfield Tenants’ and Residents’ Association and will run at the Brookshaw Centre in Brookshaw Road.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) will be running the youth club alongside Lindsey Maginn, parent support adviser for primary schools in Moorside.

PCSO Kimberley Rafferty said: “We are hoping that young people will enjoy getting involved in the activities, and that it will provide an alternative to getting involved in anti-social behaviour.

“We want this youth club to provide an opportunity for young people to engage with us and for us to build up a rapport with them, while also providing fun activities for them to do.”
