It was boxing gloves off, oven gloves on, when Bury's world champion Scott Quigg gave some tips to Shakers players about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

The first team, management and fitness staff at Bury FC were given a presentation by WBA Super Bantamweight titleholder, who demonstrated his nutritional regime.

The club’s new partner, Best in Bury Foods Ltd, also gave a presentation and treated visitors to a buffet.

John Lucas, first team fitness coach, said: “It was great to have Scott there as he's someone who ourselves as a management team and the players draw a great deal of inspiration from.

“The partnership that we have with Best in Bury will benefit the players greatly, as nutrition plays a vital part in the player's performance, in maximising their energy levels, recovery during intense training sessions and post-game nutrition.

“Best in Bury's produce will help the players maximise gains through good nutrition.

“Myself and the whole management team see great value in the partnership.”

Steve Hilton, managing director of Best in Bury, kicked off the presentation by discussing the benefits of buying fresh high quality meat without preservatives.

Quigg followed Steve's presentation with an insight into how eating the produce supplied by Best In Bury has aided his overall fitness, career and kept him in tip-top physique.

After the presentation, the players - who included skipper Jim McNulty, Ryan Lowe, Nicky Adams, Craig Jones, Nathan Cameron, Chris Sedgwick and Clive Platt - chatted informally with Scott and enjoyed the sample buffet
