Ballroom fans in Affetside are taking a quick step or two to compete in a Strictly Come Dancing style competition.
The contest involves dancers attending Affetside Chapel for six weekly lessons, finishing off with a final dance off determining the winner, who will take home the coveted Strictly Affetside trophy.
The dancers are now at the halfway stage, and starting to get a feel for the rhythm.
Organiser Joanne Wilcock said: “Dancers are trying their hardest to master the waltz, the social fox trot, a barn dance and the cha cha cha. Next week, we might even have a shot at the samba.
“A few of us have a couple of left feet, while some are more graceful and confident and seem to pick it up so much easier.
“But all agree it is a lot of fun and a real challenge. Carole Williams, our dance teacher, is incredibly patient and very encouraging.”
Residents are invited to attend any of the classes, either as a one-off or for the remaining weeks, with the next session on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
Admission costs £5 per adult, £4.50 for concessions, and £4 for students.
