A DRUNKEN woman had to be rescued from a roof in Prestwich by firefighters - after she climbed up to retrieve her shoe.
Firefighters were called to a semi-detached home in Bannerman Avenue at 6.15am this morning when a 20-year-old woman became stuck.
She had climbed out of a first floor bedroom window to retrieve her shoe when it was thrown onto the roof.
Firefighters from Whitefield and Broughton used ladders to successfully rescue the woman, who was uninjured, and retrieve the shoe.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said it is not known how or why the shoe was on the roof. It is believed a party was being held nearby.
Fire chiefs have warned revellers to be careful when returning home after a night out over the festive period.
Watch manager Gary Hodson said: "As we head into the Christmas period, we would urge people to think carefully about their actions after having a drink. Hijinks - and cooking - after alcohol can result in serious consequences.
"This lady was lucky. She could have slipped and lost her life - never mind her shoe."
