TWO popular Bury fitness gurus are inviting women and girls to join them at a five-hour charity Zumbathon on Sunday (April 26).

Fitness instructors Julie Porter and Debbie Young-Browning have organised the event, which runs from 1pm to 6pm at the Castle Leisure Centre, to raise funds for Bury Cancer Support Centre and celebrate five years of teaching Zumba together.

The pair first started teaching the Latin American-inspired dance workout in 2010 at Castle Leisure Centre, before branching out into the local community as part of the "I Will If You Will"(IWIYW) campaign, led by Bury Council with National Lottery funding from Sport England.

The Zumbathon is open to women and girls aged 14 and over, and participants can join in for as little or as long as they like. Fancy dress is encouraged and there will also be a raffle with a £50 Antony for Hair voucher as the top prize.

Julie said: “The past five years have flown by and, in that time, Debbie and I have seen hundreds of women and girls enjoying the benefits of being more active through Zumba.

"We want to see as many ladies doing their thing —hopefully in fancy dress for an added bit of fun —and we hope that by celebrating five years of Zumba in Bury we’ll raise a fantastic amount for Bury Cancer Support Centre, a cause which is close to many of our hearts.”

Tickets for the event are £5 and can bought on the day or reserved by calling Julie Porter on 0161 253 7729.
