Memorials for Lee Rigby on second anniversary of his death
MEMORIALS are being held for Fusilier Lee Rigby on the second anniversary of his death, which falls today.
Fusilier Rigby, who served in the Bury based second battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was murdered by Islamic extremists outside his barracks in Woolwich, south east London, on May 22, 2013.
His funeral was held at Bury Parish Church, which featured about 800 mourners in church including his wife Rebecca and Prime Minister David Cameron.
A memorial featuring a bronze drum and plaque has since been installed in his hometown of Middleton.
Friends of the 25-year-old are expected to descend on the memorial tonight to remember him.
