THE Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity has been announced as The Rock’s partner charity of choice for the next 12 months.

Almost 1,500 people voted in an online poll to choose the charity from a shortlist of six to work with the shopping centre in a series of events over the next year to raise money and awareness.

The Walshaw youngster, who sadly passed away aged 14 last November, set up the charity with mum Dawn Fidler to help other families living with childhood brain tumours and post-operative complications.

Dawn said: “We are so proud to have been chosen as The Rock’s Charity of Choice partner. It's going to be an amazing opportunity for Josh's charity and we are really excited to be working with the team at The Rock.

"I broke down when Tower FM told me that we had won. It's massive to me and Josh's dad Colin on a personal level as we have so many happy memories of times with Josh at The Rock shopping and having fun.

"It's amazing to be able to continue his legacy helping others, and thank you to everyone who voted and who continues to support us in our work.”

Linzi Atkinson, marketing and tenant liaison manager at The Rock, added: “This is such a great local charity and we feel privileged to be working with an organisation who have for years helped other families despite struggles of their own.

"The charity has created a real legacy for Josh and we are honoured to be able to help in any way that we can.”
