A COMMUNITY trip to Chester Zoo is on the cards thanks to the joint efforts of New Springs Community Project Group in Bury and Asda Pilsworth's community life champion Jill Brady
The supermarket giant has contributed £400 towards the cost of the outing which will be undertaken next month by people living in the Springs area of the town.
Up to 70 local people, including some of the underprivileged individuals and families, will benefit from the contribution from Asda's Local Impact Fund.
New Springs Community Project Group (NSCPG) community development worker, Rachael Bamber, said: “We still have a way to go to raise the remaining cash needed for the return coach hire costs. Our volunteers have been busy selling raffle tickets and running car boot stalls to raise the funds needed, so the £400 funding from Asda is a big help towards the target.
"Jill Brady is a great community asset and is very dedicated, coming along to help with our over-50s luncheon club and children’s activities over the school holidays. NSCPG is a volunteer led community group, so an extra pair of hands is always most welcome. We are thankful to Jill for her help and to Asda for their support of a local community project”.
