A Bury sportsman is taking the "bull by the horns" and taking part in an unusual night-time fundraiser.

Graeme Lambert, aged 24, is a member of wheelchair basketball club, Bolton Bulls, which will be taking to the streets of Manchester in November for the Life Style Sports Run in the Dark 2015.

The unique event brings people of all ages and abilities together to light up the night with a five kilometre or 10k run around Salford Quays.

Members of Bolton Bulls joined forces with Manchester Harriers athletics club for the launch of the fundraiser and, together with hundreds more, are now making preparations for the event on Wednesday November 14.

Graeme, who lives in Bury, is treasurer and an able-bodied player for the Bolton Bulls, and was one of 10 team members involved in the 2014 event, where they raised money for both the team and the Mark Pollock Trust.

“Run in the Dark stood out to me as the Mark Pollock Trust complimented our prime target audience," he said.

"It is the first ever group event the team has completed and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

“This year we hope to double the amount of people involved as our ultimate goal is to raise even more money for a great cause.”

Manchester is the only UK city outside of London to host an official run in the series. More than 50 cities worldwide and runners from around the globe are involved.

Many raise money for the Mark Pollock Trust - which helps to connect people worldwide to fast-track a cure for paralysis - while others raise money for different causes, personal athletic achievements, or just for fun.
