THOUSANDS are expected at Burrs Country Park this weekend for Bury's Agricultural Show.

The annual show returns on Sunday with some special television guests.

Carol and Philip Mellin from ITV's The Dales will be featuring as one the key attractions and they will be demonstrating the art of sheep shearing and dog trialling in the main ring.

All the action at the 73rd annual event will start at Burrs Country Park at 9am.

It is one of the major highlights of Bury's calendar and it is sure to live up to its billing with a jam packed programme of events.

In addition to the variety of the competitions and animal classes there is a host of activities for all the family.

There will be a dog show and a dog agility course.

A poultry class will teach visitors how to handle chickens properly and learn how good they can be as pets.

Learn to Knit Bury will have a stand with a Little Lancashire Small Holding Spinner making jumpers straight from the sheep.

Other animals at the event include heavy and light horses and donkeys.

Military vehicles and vintage cars will be on display. There will be a show of strength with a tug of war competition.

It's also the only show in the North West for Hereford cattle.

In addition to all the animals there is also arts and crafts for adults and children and a horticulture show.

This year visitors are encouraged to embrace their inner Mary Berry and create a masterpiece for the baking class.

Entrance is £7 for adults, concessions are £5 and under 12’s go free.
