A WOMAN has won a special award for her work in the beauty and aesthetic industry.

Rachel Goddard was awarded Safety in Beauty Campaign Nurse of the Year at the ceremony in London.

The awards were created to recognise the hard work of dedicated brands and professionals in the beauty and aesthetic industry.

Ms Goddard, from Ramsbottom, was one of eight nurses selected as a finalist out of hundreds of nominations.

The campaign was launched as a response to the growing dissatisfaction and devastation caused by dubious beauty treatments.

She said: “I am honoured to receive the Safety in Beauty Campaign diamond award for Aesthetic Nurse of the year. It means a lot to me as I always try hard to educate everyone who attends my clinic about who should be administering aesthetic procedures.

“Many people don’t realise that these are medical procedures which come with side effects and risks. People need to seek out treatment from a nurse/doctor/dentist who is qualified to deal with any complications if required. I have carried out a lot of corrective work on patients who have received treatments elsewhere, mainly by non-medics and it is rewarding to be able to help them. It’s wonderful to be recognised and receive an award for this work.”

Ms Goddard is the managing director of Rachel Goddard Aesthetics, a cosmetic medicine clinic based in Ramsbottom.
