BRIDGE Street in Ramsbottom will be closed for up to five weeks.
The closure will come in to force from Saturday July 23 for a four to five week period.
Bury Council announced the closure as National Grid need to renew old gas infrastructure which lie under the main road.
In order to undertake the works safely a full closure of the top section of Bridge Street is required.
The works coincide with the school summer holidays when traffic flow is at its lowest point throughout the year.
The council also intends to coordinate highway maintenance works with the closure to repair footpaths and the road at the same time.
There will be temporary changes to bus services which can be viewed online on firstgroup.com
