AN ADVENTURE quest has proved such a hit with youngsters across Bury it has been extended.

When the schools broke up for the summer holidays in the third week of July, Bury Council launched the Bury'd Treasure challenge, where children and their families visit local parks and green spaces to solve pirate-themed clues for a chance to win prizes.

Thousands of people flocked to nature spots to join in with the activity, which was due to come to an end on Sunday.

"Such has been the response that the adventure has been extended by ten days, until August 31," said a Bury Council spokesman.

He added: "Clues and puzzles are hidden at Nuttall Park, Philips Park, Clarence Park, on the Kirklees Trail, Prestwich Clough, Outwood Country Park and at the Peel Monument.

"The clues will change for the last time on Monday, ready for the final ten days of hunting."

People are encouraged to enter their puzzle answers onto the Bury'd Treasure website — burydtreasure.org.uk — for a chance to win prizes.

"Don't forget, you enter the prize draw every time you enter a solved puzzle so, if you complete all seven hunts in the final ten days, that's seven chances to win," said the spokesman.
