MOTORISTS are warned of severe delays on the region’s motorways this evening following a number of incidents.

On the M61, there are delays and queuing traffic on the M61 southbound between junction four for the A6 at Farnworth and junction three for the M61 at the Kearsley spur following an earlier accident.

All lanes have reopened but there is severe congestion in the area also affecting junction five for the A58 at Westhoughton.

On the M62, a lane is closed on the exit slip road to the M60 clockwise and traffic is queueing eastbound at junction 12 for the Eccles interchange. Delays are severe and follow an earlier because accident for which recovery is ongoing. Congestion is back to the Croft interchange.

In Trafford Park, the A5081 Park Way is blocked and traffic is queuing at the B5211 Barton Dock Road junction because of an accident. There is associated congestion on the B5211 Redclyffe Road to Ellesmere Circle and Parkway Circle.

Traffic problems are being exacerbated by traffic attending Old Trafford for tonight’s football match.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time to complete their journeys.
