BURY Hospice has been given a very late Christmas present.

The donation of £3,500 was given to the hospice as a result of the charity festive record which was recorded by The Spirit of Bury.

Christmas for Everyone was recorded and released last year by 21 musicians from Bury and 20 singers from Ramsbottom.

Deborah Beck who was one of the brains behind the idea explained why they chose the hospice.

She said: "“So many of us have loved ones and friends who have sadly died in the hospice — it is a really fantastic charity. My husband’s mum died in there, and one of the singers, Steve Rogers, lost his wife earlier this year. It is a really important charity."

The money was raised was through the sale of the record and donations left on the group's Virginmoneygiving site.

The song is permanently available to download on iTunes and there will be some more CD versions released later in the year.
