CHAPELFIELD residents are hoping that two new signs will help to restore the village's distinct identity.

Members of the Chapelfield Village Association recently unveiled two brand new signs to welcome visitors to the area, after managing to secure sponsorship from luxury property developer Altin Homes.

The association, which organises local events and community activities, championed the project after local residents expressed their desire for a sign that would clearly identify Chapelfield in Radcliffe as a unique area.

Both signs are located on Stand Lane, the road connecting Whitefield and Radcliffe, a short distance from Altin Homes’ Bijou Collection development, Bankside Place.

David Lewis, chairman of the Chapelfield Village Association, said: "We were delighted to receive the new signs on behalf of our local community. We would like to thank Altin Homes for their generosity, the housing development and the new signs have really helped to regenerate the local area.

"We wanted something that would help to restore the village's identity. Chapelfield has always been a defined area of its own and it still is if you look at maps today.

"It has taken a couple of years to get them installed since we first approached Altin Homes with the idea, but they have been kind enough to help us."

Altin Homes opened the Bankside Place development, which consists of 13 detached and semi-detached luxury homes, last year and said they were keen to provide a further boost to the community.

Mohammad Khoy, managing director of Altin Homes, added: "We are very proud of our Bankside Place development and we hope the community is too.

"When we build our properties we want to help the local area in whatever way we can, so we were happy to fund the new signs, which are an asset to the village and will remain for years to come."
