A MOTHER has been reunited with the ambulance crew who delivered her baby – after finding them on Facebook.

Nicola Woodward was able to fulfil her wish to thank the paramedics who helped deliver Krystal in an ambulance on the M66 motorway after an appeal on the social media site.

At just under 36 weeks’ pregnant, Miss Woodward, aged 27, had just picked up her two sons, Tom and Zack, from school when she started to experience twinges.

After a couple of hours she quickly realised that she was in labour and dad Rob, called 999 for assistance.

Paramedic Steven George and Emergency Medical Technician Andy Green arrived at Miss Woodward’s home to take her to North Manchester General Hospital and while travelling on the M66 Krystal arrived safely in the back of the ambulance, weighing just 4lb.

Miss Woodward later posted a picture on Facebook asking for help to trace the ambulance crew.

The trust’s Facebook was inundated with messages from the public asking for help and Miss Woodward and Krystal were reunited with the paramedics.

Nicola, of Threshfield Close, Walmersley, said: “What happened on the night is a bit of a blur, all I remember is that I was really scared due to being so early.

“Especially with Krystal’s cord being around her neck, I was so grateful that I was in their care when she was born. I really wanted to thank them, which is why I posted the message on Facebook.”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: “When the public started to share Nicola’s message it soon became apparent to NWAS’ Communications team that they had to help reunite them and they quickly identified the ambulance crew and arranged a reunion at Nicola’s parents’ home in Bury.

“Andy and Steven were delighted to meet the whole family, especially baby Krystal who is now almost eight weeks old, and were very grateful for the thank you cards, kind words and hospitality shown towards them.

“Big brothers, Tom and Zack, were fascinated when Steven kindly gave then a tour of the emergency ambulance and they were both delighted to be able to sit in the driver’s seat and pretend to drive the vehicle.”
