TWENTY new jobs will be created at a car dealership in Bury as part of a multimillion-pound rebuild.

Cartime is more than doubling the size of its showroom in Bell Lane after it received planning permission from Bury Council.

The company's plans for a new "supersite" include a spacious showroom with space for 40 vehicles and a reception.

There will also be a glass lift leading to the first floor which will take buyers to a customer service lounge.

Not only will the expansion bring 20 new jobs but director Matt Kay said he will be contracting the work for the development to local businesses.

Mr Kay said: "Thanks to a surge in customer demand, we have completely run out of space! "Thankfully, now that we have received planning permission, we can begin work to rebuild the showroom.

"It is exciting because the new space will allow us to continue to invest in the customer experience at cartime. We want to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, enhancing the buying process to a level never-before-seen within a used car dealership."

Cartime have worked with Fletcher Smith Architects who are behind Europe's largest dealership, the Volkswagen/Audi site in Stockport.

Mr Kay added: "We want cartime to be the biggest and best used-car supersite in the country so it made sense to enlist the services of the architects behind some of Europe's largest dealerships to design our new showroom."

The showroom will not be closing down while the rebuild goes ahead and it will be business as usual.

Mr Kay said: "We have strategically planned to the project to minimise disruption for customers."

The building is expected to take 12 months and begin at the start of 2017.

They hope to have everything completed by 2018.
