Man stole TV from shop

A MAN who stole a TV from a Bury shop has been told to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

Alistair Martin Beattie, aged 44, of Europe Drive, Topping Fold, admitted to Bury magistrates that he stole the TV, which was worth £300, from B&M Home Store in Angouleme Way, Bury, on November 4.

He must also undergo rehabilitation for drug dependency and pay £120 court costs.

Driver banned for 18 months

A MAN has been banned from driving for 18 months after leaving the scene of a crash.

Daniel Lightfoot, aged 21, of Market Street, Tottington, drove a silver Mercedes on the car park of the Swan Hotel in Tottington Road and crashed into a Land Rover before driving off, Bury magistrates heard.

He admitted driving without a licence and insurance, failing to stop at the scene of a crash and failing to report a crash. He was ordered to pay £290 in fines and court costs and was given a community order.

Man breached order again

A MAN who breached a restraining order for the third time has been spared jail.

James Andrew Taylor, aged 22, of Kestrel Drive, Freetown, admitted to Bury magistrates that he breached the order on September 27 by contacting two women.

Magistrates said the offence was serious because children were present when he contacted the woman and because he had breached the order twice before. Taylor must also pay the women £50 compensation and attend regular probation reports.

Attacker is spared prison

A MAN who strangled a pregnant woman leaving her with concussion has been spared jail.

Jordan Bainbridge, aged 19, of Wooded Close, Seedfield, admitted to Bury magistrates that he assaulted the woman in Bury on August 22.

Bainbridge was given a 23-week prison sentence suspended for a year and ordered to do 50 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay the woman £150 compensation and must also pay £115 court costs.
