A PAEDOPHILE who used a library computer to look at indecent images of children has been jailed.

David Bailey, aged 31, of Broad Oak Lane, Bury, pleaded guilty to three counts of making incident images of a child, three counts of distributing indecent images of a child, and possessing a prohibited image of a child, at an earlier hearing.

He also pleaded guilty to breach of a Sex Offender Requirement Order.

On Friday November 17 he was sentenced to six years at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life.

Greater Manchester Police’s Sexual Crime Unit launched an investigation into Bailey in November 2015 after he was spotted by security staff using a public computer in Manchester Central Library in St Peter’s Square to access indecent images of children to avoid being caught using his own computer devices.

Forensic examination of the computer Bailey used and his online accounts revealed that he was part of a worldwide network of over 1,900 people that were all actively sharing indecent images of children.

Detective Inspector Mike Gladwin of GMP’s Public Protection Division said: “Bailey continually used a public computer to continue his offending in an attempt to avoid being caught.

“Bailey is now behind bars for committing such committed abhorrent acts of depravity.
