CASTLEBROOK High School students were not soaking up information for once - they were soaking their teachers instead.
Acting deputy head teacher Tim Orrell, assistant head teacher David Whittam and Shaun Gildea all put their head in stocks and endured their students hurling wet sponges at them – and, surprise surprise, it was the idea of the students.
The sponges were yellow in keeping with the hospice movement colour as the event was raising money for Bury Hospice.
The students did have to pay for the privilege – and raised £174.15.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to Mr Orrell, Mr Whittam and Mr Gildea for reluctantly volunteering to have wet sponges aimed at their faces,” said Sue Marcroft from the Bury school.
“Without them, we couldn’t have accumulated such a considerable donation. The students seemed to enjoy it.”
