VOLUNTEERS are asked to step forward to helped create a cleaner greener future for Bury.
Sustrans - short for sustainable transport, a national movement promoting walking, cycling and horse riding -is staging a clean-up in one of Bury's popular beauty spots.
And it is asking for helpers to come out in force and join its volunteers.
Robert Trueblood made a call at this evening's Bury West Township Forum for people to take part in Daisyfield Community Clean-up, a well used route, while raising the profile of the national cycle network it forms part of.
He said: "Route 6 is a underpromoted feature of Bury, you can enter the town near Agecroft and exit through Ramsbottom.
"It is for walkers, horse riders and young people use it."
He added:"We have selected the Daisyfield area and in a week's time we would very much like help to make a difference."
Equipment will be provided to sweep, cutback and litter pick, and everyone is welcome.
The clean-up operation will take place on Tuesday, January 24 from 10am to 2.30pm, with helpers being asked to meet near the old Florence Nightingale Hospital.
