THE developer behind major regeneration plans in Bury has revealed new images that show how the development will look and made a major commitment to the delivery of the £20 million redevelopment project.

Since consulting on the plans for a mixed used scheme at Park 66 in Pilsworth, Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates have taken the decision in partnership to build the entire scheme in one contract.

Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates will take on the commercial risk of building out the employment units speculatively, ensuring that the site is delivered in full.

In doing so, the developer has prepared detailed plans for the employment site, revealing new images of the four employment units that will provide space for light industrial, general industrial and/or storage and distribution uses. These plans are now with Bury Council for consideration and a decision is expected in April.

Documents submitted alongside the planning application have also revealed the response to the consultation undertaken by Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates last year. Following a leaflet drop to areas surrounding the site and into Bury, more than 400 respondents got in touch with the developer, with 93 per cent support for the proposals. Specifically, 74 per cent of respondents said that they supported the plans for Park 66 outright, with a further 19 per cent supporting the plans ‘in part’.

Seven per cent of respondents were not supportive of the proposals brought forward by Sladen Estates.

Nigel Jones, development director at Sladen Estates, said: “We were delighted with the feedback received during the consultation and we have spent the past couple of months finalising our proposals for submission. This has included reviewing the feedback to the consultation in full, liaising with occupiers and ongoing engagement with the local community.

“We have agreed terms with a number of national brands that will be taking space on the site and we hope to be in a position to announce occupiers in due course.

“We are committed to building the employment units ourselves along with the other elements of the scheme. The residents of Bury can be assured that the site as a whole will be delivered, removing this eyesore once and for all and ensuring the creation of a significant number of jobs, as well as providing the space for businesses to locate and stay in the Borough.”

The £20 million scheme will create about 300 jobs in employment and retail, with an additional 250 during the construction. If planning permission is granted, Sladen says work could start soon with retail units potentially opening early 2018.
