A MARATHON man from Bury is completing a series of incredible marathons for charity.

McKenzie Madison, who works at Shop Direct in Bolton, has been running and raising money for Claire House Children's Hospice since his nephew Oliver died in October 2015.

Mr Madison, aged 25, will travel to Israel on Friday, March 17 to take part in the Jerusalem Marathon.

He said: "Losing my nephew taught me that no matter how small a person or how short a life, you have the ability to touch the hearts of others and have an impact upon them.

"So, I chose to run, run for others giving what I can along the way."

Mr Madison is challenging himself to complete seven marathons and in February he ran the Hong Kong Chartered Marathon.

In the coming month he hopes to finish the Manchester Marathon, the Brecon Beacons Ultra (31 miles), the Inca Trail Marathon at Machu Picchu in Peru, the Loch Ness Marathon and the Everest Marathon, the world's highest marathon.

Money raised will go towards a £400,000 target set by Shop Direct as part of its partnership with the hospice, which provides support to seriously and terminally ill children and their families.

Sophie Chilvers, a Claire House fundraiser, said: "We’re so grateful to McKenzie for taking on these epic challenges to help raise vital funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

"We can’t wait to follow his progress on this amazing journey.

"The money raised will help us reach more children who desperately need our support."
