ASPIRING nurses, doctors and paediatricians across the borough attended a medical event at Bury College.

Year 10 and year 11 high school pupils with an interest in a medical career were invited to enjoy a day of medical related workshops.

Sessions included a CPR/recovery position activity, a medical ethics tutorial and a diagnostics workshop.

Ammar Jamali, aged 15, from Philips High School, Whitefield said: “Carrying out CPR was a really enjoyable experience and it was fun learning about all the different aspects of a medical career.

"I have learnt a lot of different skills like how to save a life and how to treat a person.

"I think events like this are good for the future generations and it encourages people to get into the medical profession.”

Pupils from six Bury high schools attended the North West Medical Event, which was organised by MCS Projects Ltd.

Sanaa Alotia, aged 16 from Parrenthorn High School, Prestwich, said: “This event was a really good experience and it has helped me to prepare for my future.”

During the medical day, current Bury College science students were also invited to listen to a seminar delivered by practising junior doctors who shared their tips on how to secure a career within the profession.
