SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler brings you her latest blog

WE have had another busy week helping the families we are supporting.

One family, whose daughter has a terminal brain tumour has ordered a specialist motability car.

However, as there’s a long wait time until it arrives and we are supporting them with a temporary hire wheelchair accessible vehicle to use in the meantime.

We know how important it is that families have the opportunity to get out and about, creating special and lasting memories so this practical support is vital.

Another family is starting a new hydrotherapy course which we fund at Vestacare.

The therapy is so important, and really gives patients a sense of freedom they can’t get whilst confined in a wheelchair. Josh used to love his sessions!

More financial support grants have been paid out this week as well to help families who have children in hospital. Not only this, but we also provide assistance for children whilst they are at home, as well offering advice support and counselling sessions.

Many times our support is not just a one-off.

We have been working with little Ava le Blanc for some time after she was diagnosed with a PNET like grade 4 brain tumour in June, 2014, when she was just two years old.

She has undergone brain surgeries, intensive chemotherapy and high-dose chemotherapy with a bone marrow transplant.

Although she was in remission, in February the tumour returned and has now started cranio-spinal radiotherapy.

We are by the family’s side as they go on their journey, and currently we are raising funds so that we can fix their garden, so it is suitable for Ava to use during the summer when she is well enough.

A friend of the family, Linda, is running the Liverpool half-marathon on May 28, and has already raised more than £1,000 including Gift Aid which is just amazing!

Thanks to everyone who has already supported this project — we need to make this garden a reality!

Finally, on Saturday, May 6, Charisse Kenworthy is hosting a Rock Till you Drop night at Woodbank Cricket Club. Tickets are £5 and will offer you a fantastic night of entertainment, as well as the chance to buy some brilliant goodies.

Thanks so much for organising this night for the charity — we are so excited!
