SUPERJOSH founder Dawn Fidler bings you her latest blog

It’s hard writing a blog this week, when all any of us can think about is the senseless loss of life at Manchester Arena on Monday.

I know, like many, I take heart in the strength, resilience and compassion shown for all those affected, and offer my deepest sympathies to those whose loved ones did not come home.

A special thank you to everyone who has donated toiletries and other essential items that our team has taken to hospitals around the Manchester area.

It is these little things that are often forgotten about in emergency situations and they really do make the difference.

We see everyday the good in people, those coming together for a cause they believe in, and as part of this we have our own thanks to offer to those who continue to support us.

On Saturday, we were delighted to attend the Mayor’s end-of-year celebration, during which we were presented with a cheque for £9,333.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Mike and Ian, on behalf of myself and the whole SuperJosh Team, for all their support over the past 12 months.

Also a huge thank you to Paul and Ben Fox who, through their ongoing support, have raised an additional £751 as part of their support for the Mayor’s Charities.

What they and their fundraising team have managed to do in raising over £28,000 is amazing; and I know the three charities chosen to receive these donations will do wonderful things with it.

I also wanted to say a huge well done to Phill Smith, who completed the Chester Half Marathon last weekend. To date he has raised a massive £2,000!

Thank you so much for taking on this massive task, and for thinking of us and the families we support.

Good luck to Linda Narayanen who will be running the Liverpool half marathon this weekend, raising money specifically to help Ava get the garden of her dreams for this summer.

A special mention also to Jack Pierce, aged 12; over the past two years, we have been helping to support his brother, Lewis and to raise money Jack will be cycling 31 miles from Widness to Southport this weekend.

On June 2, The Village Hotel are hosting a Sportsman’s Dinner with Gary Pallister, David May and Clayton Blackmore.

Tickets are £45 each and we are proud to be the chosen charity for the night. We know it’s going to be a brilliant night of entertainment, featuring legends throughout the years. Limited tickets are still available and would make a great early Father’s Day gift.

Finally, this week has been the launch of Bury Ladies Walking Group and thanks to organiser Lizzie Crumbleholme, 30 ladies kicked off with an evening walk up to Holcombe Tower.

It was great to see so many come together to get fit and I'm sure lots of new friendships will be made along the way.

If you would like to join the group you will find it on Facebook under Bury Ladies Walking Group facebook.com/groups/767637360067745/
